Pruning butterfly bush
When should you prune your butterfly bushes? Ours are in a Zone 5 climate.

I always wait and prune mine after they begin to show new growth in the spring. That way I can cut away any growth from last year that isn't coming back to life. Since these plants bloom on new wood, you won't be hurting the plant's flowering by pruning in the spring.
