Move and transplant perennials when over crowded
My question is can you pull out and transplant any time during the summer when you have an over abundance of flowers crowding other plants? My Perennial flower bed (wild flowers included) are becoming over crowded with my spirea there everything is just popping up now and it looks too crowded. I did not know if it would hurt for me to move some of the plants to make room?

Hi,

Thanks for writing. If you can wait until fall, it's easier on the plants to dig and divide them when temperatures are cool. If you can't wait, you may divide them now --- it will just be more stressful on the plants.
