planting bulbs
when is the best time of year to plant bulbs? I am in zone 4 and do you have any suggestions for soil prep?
Plant spring blooming bulbs in autumn after the soil has begun to cool down. In Zone 4 this is usually early October. Most bulbs grow best in well-drained soil. If the planting area contains a lot of clay, raised beds or addition of compost to the planting area will help.
