A small worm/caterpillar is eating my zinnias. It gets in the center of the flower (hidden) and eats from the inside out. What can I do to save my flowers? Thank you. McKinney, Texas

Thanks for writing. If the worm is a type of caterpillar (I'm sorry, but I can't identify it without seeing it), there are sprays called Bt that you can use; these are a natural bacterium that attacks and kills caterpillars. You can also try spraying the flowers with neem oil to deter the insects.
