sickly aspens
I live in Montana and have clay soil. My aspen trees are not doing well and 2 have died. They get black around the edges of the leaves and have deloped bumps along the trunk.
Also some of my other trees have died down and come back up from the roots. Any suggestions?

Aspens are prone to two problems that may be happening here. Aspen Leaf Spot is a fungus that affects the foliage and Aspen Canker will often kill trees and develops actual cankers on the bark and branches. I would take a sample to your local extension service or garden center for an up-close evaluation.
