Pruning Gardenia bushes
My gardenia bushes are approx. 8 ft tall, they are old well established bushes. Because I live in an area with a lot of trees, my gardenia bushes are leaning towards the sun. They produced a lot of flowers this year, but because they are leaning, they look scraggly. Will pruning help? If so, when do I prune them and how much. Thanks

Well you can certainly prune them back to make them look a bit better, but this will not stop them from leaning to get to the sun. I'm actually surprised you had as many flowers as you did because these shrubs prefer a sunny spot. I would nip and tuck the shrubs to make them more tidy, but the plants are doing what they need to do to gain enough sunlight to survive.
