Well all you really need is a sunny spot that gets at least 8 hours of sun a day and some space for the tree to expand. Plant the pecan tree at the same level as it was growing in the pot if you buy one at a local nursery. Then, water well and mulch around the base of the plant to eliminate weed competition and preserve soil moisture. That's all you really need to do.

Is fall the best time to plant? Do pecans need two trees to produce nuts?
