daffodils didn't bloom
I live in the Sonoran desert, Tucson, AZ, and this spring has been very hot back down to the 40's. My daffodils came up, but no blooms. They did a great job last year. I also bought a lily of the valley in a package from Home Depot and nothing has happened. Can it grow here in a pot in the shade? Maybe it's just not possible even though it was sold locally.

Your daffodils are experiencing bud blast, which can happen when the weather warms up too quickly. If it's the weather's fault, you are of course powerless. But if your daffs haven't been divided in a while, that could be contributing to the blasting. Make sure you divide them every few years in fall, and separate any baby bulbs from the mother plant while you do it. As to the lily of the valley, it is not suited to your very warm Zone 9. You couldn't possibly keep it wet enough to thrive there.
