Virtually any kind of vegetable can be grown in Tucson if you time it correctly. Cool season crops such as cabbage, broccoli, radishes, carrots, lettuce and spinach grow best in late winter or fall in your area when it is cooler. The warm season vegetables, including tomato, pepper, eggplant, squash, and beans can grow now. If you don't have good garden soil in which to grow your vegetables, you can grow them to maturity in containers with potting soil. The larger the container the better. Small containers dry out quickly.
