You can plant most any type of container-grown perennial at this time of year. Late season blooming ones include aster, Russian sage, boltonia, kalimeris, goldenrod, chrysanthemum, and Joe-Pye weed. Cool-weather annuals for fall planting include ornamental kale, pansies, and snapdragons.
