For which is mulching not beneficial?
Is there any of my flower bed perennials that don't particularly like mulching?

It's a matter of degree. Mulch helps conserve moisture and keep out weeds. But if it's too thick, it can smother the roots or hold in too much moisture. For most flowers, a mulch layer 2 to 3 inches deep is good.
