Dividing peonies
After several years is it necessary to divide peonies? I have some that are about 15 years old and the blossoms are becoming smaller. Do I need to divide them?

Peonies seldom need division. They may grow for many decades without needing division. In fact, they resent being dug up and divided.  Reduction in size of blooms may also be due to lack of enough plant nutrients, increasing shade as landscape plantings mature, or disease. If none of these are the case, it's certainly possible that after 15 years in one location, your peonies might benefit from division.
