I live in the desert and my soil is clay what can I grow?
I live in Pahrump in Southern Nevada. My soil is clay and the only flowers I have been successful in growing in the soil are daylilies, Iris and hollyhocks. I would like to know what else I could grow that could survive the heat of the desert and the horrible soil where I live.

You can also grow Yarrow (Achillea spp.), Orange Globe Mallow (Sphaeralcea munroana), and Wild Four O'Clock (Mirabilis multiflorus) in the desert and in clay soil. Amend the clay with organic matter every year to give your garden a wider range of options.
