Sarting Seeds Indoors
"I started Pole and Bush beans indoors just 2 weeks ago. And the Pole Beans are already getting their 2nd set of true leaves. I know I probably started too soon, they're in 4"" peat pots. Can they evenually go to large planters before going outside? Thanks, K. Rosten, Carson City, NV"

Because beans grow so quickly from seed, it's best to sow them directly in the garden about two weeks before your last frost date. Our homes are too warm for bean plants and they don't transplant well, even in peat pots. If your last frost date is March 15, you might be able to salvage them by moving them outside during the day and back inside during the night. Then plant them in the garden within a week or so.
