Preparing my garden for winter
"I'm not sure what I need to do with my vegetable garden once I pull all my plants up in the fall. I live in central florida. so I had to put in lots of potting soil, & top soil as the soil here is all sand, I want to keep my soil for next spring but I don't want to have to keep weeding my empty garden all winter long. Should I cover it with plastic, Please Help. "

First, I'd recommend removing all plant debris from the garden and composting it away from the site. This helps prevent overwintering of diseases and insects that may be in the plant debris. Then I'd recommend adding a mulch of shredded leaves. If that's not available, you might try pine straw.
