Can Peonies be transplanted in the Spring?
I have peonies that need to be transplanted. In the fall, they are overcrowded under Rose of Sharon trees and field lilies, and I can't get to them. Now that they are just starting to show the red tips, can I move them to a new flowerbed?

Since peonies bloom so early in the spring, they do not care to be moved at this time. If you must move them now, do so carefully and don't plant them any deeper than they are at the moment (this is critical). You must be prepared for them to not bloom this year, but by next year they should have gotten over their skittishness!  Ideally wait till fall and cut back the Rose of Sharon that's overcrowding them!
