Black leaves on Black Eyed Susans
Beginning late spring for the past three years, my flower bed of Black Eyed Susans start getting black spots on their leaves. By September, the lower leaves are completely black. Blooms seem unaffected. Is there anything I can do to treat this "fungal infection" or whatever it is?
This is a fungal disease. It will help to thoroughly clean up the foliage this fall so that fewer fungal spores overwinter. But you may need to spray the plants with an all-purpose fungicide beginning in the spring.
