How do I prevent apple maggots?
"We have beautiful yellow delicious apples and have picked most of them. We are finding the ones that have no spots and when I peel them there is a brown line through them. They were not that way when I picked them and used them right away. How can we prevent this from happening, they are perfect now and clean inside."

It's possible that you have some late-season apple maggots that hadn't hatched out until after you picked the apples. Apple maggot adults can lay their eggs on the apples from  about the first of July through September in your area. Weekly sprays of insecticide or apple maggot traps made of sticky red spheres hung in the tree are ways to control the apple maggot adults.
