About a magnolia tree.
Hi. I found a magnolia tree growing in my backyard by the woods in a shaded and moist area. We moved it to the center of my yard hoping it would get bigger. We moved it right after it rained getting the roots too. It doesn't have any leaves yet like it did by the woods. I put plant and vegetable food on it today. What else can I do for it to make it grow?

Digging a plant in midsummer and moving it is always risky. No matter how careful you are to get as many of the roots as possible, you'll be cutting off up to 90% of the roots. It will take a some time for the plant to regenerate nw roots before it puts out new top growth. In the meantime, keep the root system moist (but not soaking wet.) Avoid fertilizing the plant until it becomes re-established.
