Most nut trees develop a tap root, which makes them difficult to transplant successfully. It helps to undercut the tree's root system a year before moving it to force it to develop a branched root system. If it mush be moved now, try to take as large a root ball of soil as practical with the tree to keep as much of the root system intact as possible.
