Sticky Leaves on a Ninebark Diablo
My ninebark diablo has sticky leaves, aphids on the branches (green ones) and tiny white dots on the top of the leaves and and black and white dots on the undersides. How do I treat this infestation? The bush is quite large and this is the first time this has happened. It is situated on the east side of my house and gets early morning to late morning sun.

The stickiness is probably being caused by the insects' droppings. You might try spraying your ninebark with a product called Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew; it has a low toxicity to animals and beneficial insects, but should help clear up the pesty insects. Be sure to follow the instructions on the packaging carefully.
