Something is eating my hostas
Hi my hostas have just started to come out, and some kind of insect is eating the leaf,I had them for 3 years now and never had this problem,I have other perennials around them and they are ok for now,any ideas as to what insect could be on them and how do I cure it. They are located in part sun but mostly shade.

Hostas are a favorite of slugs. I suspect that they are the culprits involved. Slugs like moist, dark environments, so anything you can do to keep the area drier and brighter can help reduce their population. You can also use slug baits containing iron phosphate or trap them with saucers of stale beer.
