Lily Beetles destroying my plants
Help! I have a bed of oriental lilies that I love but, last year the bed was infested with small red beetles and they've already come back this year. They look like large lady bugs but, no spots. They feast on my lilies and cover the plants in green slime as they digest the leaves. So far I haven't found anything that gets rid of them. Do you have any suggestions. I try picking them off by hand whenever I see them but, can't seem to keep up and the damage to the plants is severe, any ideas?

This pest is the lily leaf beetle. Handpicking can help reduce the population, so good for you for trying that technique. One natural product that has shown good control of lily leaf beetles is Neem. The top and undersides of leaves need to be coated with this spray to control the beetles. Conventional insecticides such as sevin or orthene should work to control the pests, too.
