Snake Repellant
We have a large backyard with a water retention pond in the back. My yard is so ugly and plain and spare because we have garden snakes. My husband is afraid of those snakes (eventhough they are more scared of him and his hoe - he goes everywhere with that hoe in the yard). Is there any plant of anything that I can do to keep the snakes away? There are plants for deer, moles, and rabbits, etc., but is there something for snakes? Thank you for reading this.

Actually there are no plants you can grow to scare off snakes or any of the other animals you list. The best way to avoid snakes (even though they are EXCELLENT garden friends and should never be destroyed) is to remove any hiding places such as flat boards, rocks, etc. There is also a snake repellent you can buy from Liquid Fence that you spray where you want snakes to stay away. I've never used it, but you can buy most Liquid Fence products at garden centers, Home Depot, Lowes, or Wal-mart. Just keep in mind that reptiles like Garter Snakes eat tons of garden pests and the more of them you have the healthier your garden will be.
