Keeping dogs and cats out of my flower bed
I love flowers, however I would appreciate knowing what type of flower or pretty plant I could have in one section of my yard against the house that my dog or the neighbor's cat would leave alone. I planted impatients lastyear and they were ruined. P.S. A fence is not practical here.

Aside from planting cactus all over your yard, there is really no plant that repels dogs and cats. You could build a raised bed and put your flowering plants in it to prvent dog damage, but cats won't consider this bed off-limits. There are liquid repellents you can purchase and apply with a hose. There are also motion-triggered water sprayers and high-frequency sound emitters.
