My salvia plants have become so large that they have now flopped into a circular pattern on the ground. Is this normal? What should I be doing so that they remain up right and beautiful? Should I cut them back...I have Pink Friesland-Salvia nemorosa and deep purple ones.

Hi, Well the best thing to do here is to divide them into smaller pieces so they don't get so big and floppy. The best time to divide them is in the very early spring, just as they break dormancy. I'd wait till next spring and dig and divide them.
