Tomato plants to big
my tomato plant got about 8 feet tall last year and had a very hard time keeping them up. I couldn't find anything to use. I finally tied them to 8 foot pieces of bamboo but those eventually got soggy and broke. Any suggestions? Emily Haigh Brighton, Michigan

Hi, Well what I use is concrete reinforcing wire. It's heavy enough to support big tomatoes and tall enough to handle the big plants. I made supports by creating tomato cages with this wire by making the cages about 3 foot in diameter. I clip the wire at the bottom to create "feet" that I can jam into the ground and I also stake the whole cage with a metal t-post pounded into the ground. This way, the biggest tomato stands up even in high winds and storms.
