Sweet bay (Laurus nobilis) can be grown as a houseplant if you provide it with medium to bright light and cool to moderate temperatures. Keep the soil moist when the plant is actively growing, but on the dry side during the winter. Harvest full-size leaves and place them on an absorbent paper towel in a well-ventilated dark area until they are dry. In about a week or so, the leaves should be dry. Gather up the dried leaves and store them in an airtight glass jar.
