Missing strawberry centers on blooms
Hi, My strawberry plants are beginning to develop wonderful little blooms. I noticed yesterday that some of the developing strawberries were missing or partially eaten. The white petals were still there, but not the centers! What can I do to prevent this from happening so the strawberries will ripen? Thanks!
Hi, It's hard to say what's going on, but it sounds to me like either slugs or birds are visiting your strawberry plants. To protect them from birds, you can buy grow net at your local garden center to protect the plants. If it's slugs, you can buy slug & snail bait to eradicate those predators.

Hi again, I discovered what it is. Last night I found 3 brown caterpillars chowing down on the green strawberries. They must be some sort of larvae. They were about 1- 1 1/2 inches long and had a smooth, light brown color. I plucked them off. Any idea what they might be?
