Extending kitchen wall cabinets to the ceiling
I'd like to add wall cabinets to extend to the ceiling above my existing standard wall cabinets. The space will accomodate a 12" h cabinet. My problem is that I have a variety of sizes and shapes (including a corner and a microwave cabinet) which are not typical. Short of custom, what are my options? Should I try to match exactly or contrast? What about top hinged options?
I would take an inventory of exactly what you have and see if you can find a manufacturer who can get you what you need. Alternately, you may replace the units that are hard to find with taller cabinets.
Instead of matching I would advise selecting a finish that compliments what you have. It is very much “on trend” to mix finishes and even wood types in a kitchen these days.
