Thanks for writing. Most spring-blooming bulbs need to be planted in fall and they'll bloom the next year in spring -- so tulips, daffodils, etc. are probably not good choices for your instant gratification tendencies.
Most summer-blooming bulbs --- callas, dahlias, etc. will bloom the year you plant them. In fact, most continue to bloom all summer long.
