Do you have any recommendations for a good indoor plant for my son's dreary dorm room?
My son is going away to college, and I thought a few plants might liven up his dreary dorm room. There's one window at the far end of the long concrete space. Do you have any recommendations?

If your son agrees to having a plant or two, there are several that are forgiving, especially around finals week. Peace lily (Spathiphyllum), snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata), golden pothos (Epipremnum aureum), and Swiss cheese plant (Monstera deliciosa) all grow in medium-light conditions and tolerate neglect. Allow the soil to dry to the touch between waterings. Fertilize with a water-soluble fertilizer in spring and summer (follow the directions on the package), or pot the plant using a soil that contains a slow-release fertilizer.
