How do I fix patches of dead grass with sod?
There's a problem area in my yard where the grass has died. I'd like to patch it with sod. How do I do this?

Prepare the soil the same way you would for a seed patch. Dig out the area an inch or so below the soil line so the finished patch will be level with the existing grass. Use a utility knife to cut a piece of sod the same size and shape as the area to be patched. Firm the patch into the soil, making sure the edges fit snugly into the surrounding lawn. Step on the patch to settle it, and water deeply.
