Can you suggest colorful flowers that will grow in intense heat?
I have a sunny area in front of my house where I'd like to plant some annual flowers for color, but everything I've tried just burns up in the middle of summer. Can you suggest something that would grow in this heat trap?

Selecting the right plants for the site is a good start. Many annual flowers thrive in sun and heat if given adequate moisture. Some to try include annual blanket flower (Gaillardia pulchella), globe amaranth (Gomphrena globosa), lantana (Lantana camara, L. montevidensis), moss rose (Portulaca grandiflora), salvia (Salvia splendens, S. farinacea), sunflower (Helianthus annuus), vinca (Catharanthus roseus), and narrowleaf zinnia (Zinnia angustifolia).
