Use only regular butter or 100% corn oil margarine in candies. Using spreads or substitutes can cause recipe failure since these products contain additional moisture or different fats.

Butter is better, but i have used stick margarine -- never use spread/tub or the whipped stick; it will not set.

I've always used margarine instead of butter for my different fudge recipes that I make.I've not noticed a different they always set up which is good.this is a new one on me about butter.
