Can you recommend some garden phlox cultivars that are resistant to powdery mildew? The plants I have look terrible by late summer because they are always covered with white powder.

Regional climatic differences and weather conditions can affect the amount of mildew that develops on garden phlox (Phlox). But you are wise to get rid of your phlox if it is consistently infected with mildew. There are several excellent cultivars that seldom are affected by powdery mildew. Some of them are 'David', with white flowers; 'Katherine', with lavender flowers; 'Delta Snow', with white flowers; 'Eva Cullum', with pink flowers; 'Robert Poore', with purple flowers; 'Natascha', with purple flowers; and Phlox carolina, with lavender flowers.
