Add fertilizer. The thing about sawdust is that it will suck up nitrogen as it decomposes in soil, so by adding fertizilier, you can offset some of that nitrogen loss. Also, heavy layers of sawdust are water repellent, so remove what you can from the surface, and till the rest into the soil, if possible. Beyond that, it should really cause any serious problems.
