How do we keep our water garden from being infested with mosquitoes?
We're considering putting in a water garden but are worried that it will be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. How can we make sure that it doesn't become one?

A neglected or badly planned water garden can indeed be a haven for mosquitoes. But you can prevent mosquitoes in a couple of ways. First, make sure the water moves. A strong fountain or splashing waterfall will accomplish this. Alternatively, stock the water feature with fish, especially goldfish. If the water garden is too small for goldfish, use mosquito fish. Both eat mosquito larvae.
