Help with composting - animal products?

what food scraps can I safely compost for a vegetable garden - no animal products, right? Anything else? Thanks

Most food scraps other than animal products are safe to compost and won't attract unwanted vermin. Some, such as citrus rinds or pineapple tops, are slow to decompose, but are perfectly fine to use. They just take longer to break down. Basically, anything of plant origin should be fine.
