I have tomato plants in my garden (miami, florida) and they keep getting these small white worms which then curl leaves around them and have almost spiderweb-like white threads surrounding them. It is really getting frustrating because I can't find any pictures online of things that look like them to find out how to erradicate them. Any ideas?
From your description, this sounds like a leaf roller. They aren't common on tomatoes, but can affect many different types of plants. Usually they cause little harm to the plant, so you may not need to treat them at all. Because the insects are somewhat protected inside the rolled leaf, most insecticides are relatively ineffective on them. If you have small numbers of them, the most effective means of contol may be to physically squish them inside the rolled up leaf.
