I have a four foot stone fence around my backyard, and I'm looking for an inexpensive way to add height for privacy. The ground is concrete so it would be hard to plant anything there. Also, there is a tree that hangs over the side of the fence and is perfect for shade, but would cause a gap in anything built on top of the fence. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Without an actual site visit, it's difficult to know what might work best in your situation. You may be able to add a light weight topper to your stone fence--something like a lattice panel. Or perhaps attaching a lattice panel to the front of the wall, extending above it. If in-ground planting isn't an option, you could grow vines in container gardens placed next to the wall.
