hot, dry 90-100 daily no rain. i water daily, but plants keep dying. Planted over 50 bulbs. what do i need to do to help bulbs grow. can I put mulch over the ground before they start to grow? Do I need to add plant food

Generally it's best to water only once or twice per week rather than daily. You can apply mulch over an area where bulbs are planted even before they emerge. Use approximately 2 to 3 inches of mulch depth.

You don't indicate what type of bulbs that you're trying to grow, but all bulbs have everything they need to grow stored in the bulb, so you don't need to apply fertilizer at planting time. They may need some fertilizer to produce a second round of bloom, however.
