Flowers on my Vegetables

I started my vegetable garden in the beginning of May. All of my vegetables are looking good except the brocolli and cabbage are starting to flower. The weather has not really goten all that hot as of yet, so I am not sure why this is happening. Should I pinch the flowers off?

Hi, Well it's hard to say what caused them to flower. Usually it's heat related, but sometimes you just can't be sure why they bolted early. They could have gotten too warm where you purchased them. At this point, there's nothing you can do and I'd compost them. I generally recommend getting these crops in the ground earlier than May. I'm in zone 5 and I plant my cool crops in early to mid-April.
