Why isn't my Hardy Hibiscus plant growing leaves yet?

I live in Massachusetts and have two Hardy Hibiscus plants that I planted last year. They are both situated in sunny areas in rich soil. Neither of them have started to grow leaves yet this year. Is this normal? When should I expect foliage? When should I expect the flowers to bloom?

Hardy hibiscuses are ver slow to start growth in the spring. None of mine have started to sprout yet this year either, despite the fact that we've had several days in the 80s and 90s already. It's not unusual to see no growth on them until late May or even early June in the far north. Normally they will start blooming in mid- to late summer.
