Bamboo removal from yard

My son has bamboo next to the foundation of his newly purchaed house. What can he do to get rid of it?

Thanks for writing. That's a tough one...


If the bamboo is young and hasn't spread a long ways yet, digging it out can be effective. If it has started to wander into his neighbors' yards, though, then cutting off the stalks and spraying, pouring, or "painting" them with an herbicide like Roundup can help. This product is absorbed into the root system and will start to weaken the plant. Keep applying the herbicide each time the bamboo regrows and eventaully you'll exhaust the plant.

the only way I have found to work is digging it up, then tilling the area.
