Yellowing leaves on my clematis.
Hi, Well this is a hard one because yellow leaves can indicate a wide number of problems. Yellow leaves can mean the soil is too wet, the soil is too dry, the plant was chilled, or with clematis it can often be a sign of clematis wilt. If it seems happy with the amount of light it's getting (I worry when you say it's growing under an oak and maple since clematis really needs 6 to 8 hours of sun a day) then I'd give it some slow-release granular fertilizer to see if that helps.
