pruning a clematis?

What pruning does a Crimson Star Clematis need? There was one bloom last season on a three year old vine. Growing on an arbor, roots in shade, vine in part sun to sun. zip 60402

Hi,

Thanks for writing. If you'd like to give the vine a light pruning (cut it back by no more than a fourth) you can do so now (in March) to stimulate good growth and blooms.
