controlling a hummingbird vine

Hope You can help with this one! My "hummingbird vine" had it's roots disturbed a few years ago and is now growing everywhere! It comes up thru the ashphalt in our driveway, our neighbors yard, all over our front flower beds and even straight Round-Up concentrate has not touched it. What do we do?

Several different plants are known as hummingbird vine. From your description, I'd guess that you have a Campsis radicans, also known as trumpet vine. The root system of this vine can extend a long distance, and when disturbed, pop up everywhere. There's not a good, simple solution to the problem. If concentrated Round-Up is not working to control it, you may need to use a brush killer painted directely onto the sprouts.
