my wife and i plant a vegetable garden every year. both of us have bad backs and now i am gone for work 4 - 5 weeks at a time leaving her home to care for the garden by herself. I am always looking for ways to control the weeds within the garden area. I have recently come upon some thin sheets of rubber and was wondering if i can use this on top of landscape fabric without hurting the dirt or vegetables.
Rubber should be inert, and not cause any harmful leachate into the soil around your vegetable plants. However, it may heat excessively in summer sun and cause some burning on the plants.
