veggies garden beds

i read an article on gardening and how you should lay out your beds. it was either north to south or east to west i can't remember which one . can you tell me?

The layout of the beds themselves doesn't really matter that much. It really comes down to where you plant  your crops. Tall crops such as sweet corn and tomatoes should always be planted on the north and or west side of the bed to prevent shading of the shorter crops. The bed itself can be any shape or size or direction, but within the bed make sure you plant your crops so that all of them receive the maximum amount of sunlight."
